The town was titled after Kilmarnock, in Scotland. According to the United States Enumeration Bureau, the town has a total region of 2.9 square miles (7.4 km ), of which, 2.9 square miles (7.4 km ) of it is territory and 0.35% is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,244 citizens , 547 homeholds, and 305 families living in the town.
